The type you buy depends on the archer you are. New archers should not use the 1 and 2 piece types as they put more weight on the bow which can influences accuracy. For hunting, you may want to look for a bow-mounted design. If you are a competition archer, you should look for one that can be carried on the back or hip.

Capacity is an important factor. Most quivers are designed to hold between three and 10 arrows. If you want to be able to hold arrows of different lengths then you should look for a design that is adjustable.
Water can damage the flue that holds the arrow and fletching together. If you are planning to go hunting, you should look for a design that uses a protected lid over the top that will keep the arrows dry.
It is best to look for an archery quiver that uses a swivel belt loop. The loop will allows for the quiver to be switched from one side of the body to the other. Quivers with a swivel belt loop can be used by either right or left-handed archers
Noise is exclusively a consideration to be made by hunters and not target shooters. You should ensure that the archery quiver does not cause excess noise while you are moving. Look for a design that includes a sound-dampening attachment.
